about

this is an album i wrote as part of a songwriting challenge for the month of february that my friend rachel kline (rachelkline.bandcamp.com) came up with where she offered a series of 8 particular songwriting tests that had to be completed within one month. i decided to turn her briliant idea into a short record. oddly enough, this is probably my most personal record to date, and deals a lot with death, sadness, loneliness, and a lot of other things i was thinking a lot about this winter. i am okay now, at least, as okay as one can ever be. don't worry about me.

the challenges were as follows:

- a song that tells a secret
- a song that's not about love
- a song without a chorus
- a song that's a minute long
- a song your parents would hate
- a song written outside of your usual writing environment
- a song you need to write for you
- a song inspired by an image

rather than tell you which song i wrote corresponds to which challenge, i thought it would be interesting to leave it a mystery (obviously if you are very curious you can ask me and i will gladly tell you, some are more obvious than others). hopefully you find this album as intriguing and unexpected an experience as i had while writing it.

thanks to rachel for the wonderful prompt
&
thanks to all those whom i love
