this album is an odd compilation of revisited versions of songs from my previous project, which was called Tall Tremors. these songs were written at a time during which i can now see i was very misguided, naive, and not quite mature. of course, these things always come with time. at the same time, these songs have always stuck with me a little bit and they were my first foray into making music of any kind, so i thought i would see just how much of them i remembered, and how i would play them now that ive had a few more years of singing, playing, and songwriting experience. the challenge was not to look at any lyric sheets or refresh my memory in any way, and if i messed up a lyric i just had to change the lyric. if you know the original songs well you will notice that several of the songs either have missing or changed lyrics. this is intentional. as i have changed throughout the years, so must these songs. i'd also like to note that im not necessarily proud of a lot of the impetus behind some of these songs, and some of them come from a very selfish emotional place. i think that this is important to acknowledge, and important not to ignore. i wasn't perfect and i still am not perfect. nobody is. but if there is anyhthing that i want this compilation to represent, it is that we have to engage in a constant process of revising our art and behaviour as we learn, and we must be aware of our mistakes. i hope ive succeeded in doing something like that here.
